Private SSL Certificates

A private SSL certificate is signed specifically for your domain name identifying the site as authentic and enabling 128-bit SSL encryption. Contrast this to a shared SSL certificate which is signed for the server itself preventing you from using your own domain name for secure pages (HTTPS). If you used anything other than the server domain, your users would get an error telling them that the digital certificate the website domain name do not match.

A private digital certificate is more professional and is the right choice for e-commerce stores and other businesses where it would not be appropriate to use the server's digital certificate and have the user see a different domain name.

For a private digital certificate to work and enable SSL encryption security, a dedicated IP address must be in place. Digital certificates can be purchased from your Client Area under 'Order' or you can visit our Digital Certificates page on our website.
